Asiatic Black bear is threatened in South Asia due to poaching for gall bladders (medicine) and skin (ornamental), killing bears to reduce agricultural crop depredation, large scale destruction of its habitat due to illegal logging, developmental activities (hydroelectric projects and load construction) and pressure from humans and livestock. The main objective of this study is to determine food preferences of Asiatic black bears, causes of conflicts, causes of death of people and black bear and its distribution area. This study will be conducted in the Langtang National Park (LNP) and Dhorpatan hunting reserve (DHR). Primary data will be collected through- Key informants’ survey, Household survey with questionnaires, Participatory resource mapping, Direct Observation and Secondary data relevant to the study will be collected from various published and unpublished documents. This research will provide management recommendation for future course of actions and provide necessary base line data towards its conservation. The conservation and management efforts will only be successful when we have the information on this species. Since the study of this species has not been done so far in Nepal, this study would be a pioneering one and would definitely add some information on this species
